I get this problem with the maximas on my office computer (in my school
department's control, within their firewall). The same programs work OK
on my computer at home.
This DEP stuff doesn't help.
I have a Symantec Client Firewall. Turning it off doesn't allow xmaxima
to start up the maxima process.
Prior to some time (maybe 8 months ago) xmaxima and wxmaxima worked on
this machine.
There is a list of blocked ports in the firewall settings. What ports
are used by maxima?
Oh, Commercial Macsyma runs on this same machine.
