yes, we now have gnuplot 4.2 onboard
We can either have gnuplot_pm3d set to
> false as the default (like on linux and elsewhere) or set it to false
> only for plot2d (gnuplot_pm3d is an option for 3d plots only).
I'm in favour of the second option.
