sbcl maxima on Ubuntu

This is strange. I have just built maxima rc2 with clisp, both in ubuntu
5.10 and 6.06, without problems. Tomorrow I'll make the compilation with
sbcl (I don't have Dapper Drake at home).

Can you run clisp from the console?

I don't really know how to interpret this error message, but it seems to
me this is a local problem.
