Yes, there is. Sorry for the confusion.
The @ is the operator for the defstruct code which made its way
into Maxima in the most recent release. So the examples which
define "@" as an operator should have been changed to something
else (e.g. "##" or something).
Maxima allows either the infix declaration to be first or the
function definition. I said otherwise before; that was incorrect.
