Hello,
I have only used wxmaxima slightly, so please excuse me if this
question has a simple answer.
Is there a way to display more than one input line at a time, and to
cut and paste from a previous input line?
These things can be done in xmaxima.
One of the things I find very useful in xmaxima is that one can scroll up
many screens to find a command input which was made much earlier in
a session. (It would actually be better if the command history were actually
searchable, but I don't see how to do that).
Having found a previous command one can actually modify it and
execute the modification on the fly without even pasting it into
the current input line. This is a great feature which saves much
time.
I don't see a similar feature with wxmaxima.
The alternative that I see in wxmaxima is to do a 'stringout'
command and search the file which is created. The latter
procedure requires several intermediate steps and is fairly
cumbersome.
I find the requirement of only one input line at a time
a severe limitation.
One possibility would be to have another dialog box available (say
an item on a menu bar which could be activated with a mouse click
(or keyboard combo) which would contain an upward scrollable list of the previous
commands in order. When desired, one could open the 'history'
window, then one could select, (perhaps edit) and execute a previous
command.
Is something like this already possible?
TIA,
-sen
