(I still haven't gotten wxMaxima to work perfectly yet) And while both interfaces have sufficient functionality, they aren't very pretty, and aren't the easiest to use for novices.
I use Maxima on Mac OS X as well as on GNU/linux (ubuntu) and, as much
as I would appreciate such a nice GUI, I would regret that much effort
be undertaken on a new project that would not serve as well the users
of Maxima on all (or at least most) platform and be really
interoperable.
I bet, I could be possible to work on wxmaxima and ameliorate it for
it to be 1/ easy to install and use on the Mac OS X, 2/ a better and
nicer interface on the 3 main platforms (Mac OS X, GNU/linux and
Windows) alike.
I really fear that your work would not be portable and interoperable,
and be only linked to ONE proprietary platform (be it a nice and good
one)
Thanks anyway for your efforts,
Nicolas
