Are there complete document of Maxima other than the source?

Are there book or document (other than the source code)
which describes the details of the internal design of 
Maxima? For example, the internal representation 
of expressions,the system design,the algorithms used, 
etc. the everything. The book is something like 
"The Anatomy of Maxima" or the "Inside the Maxima".
And if a good programmer were read it, he/she could 
rewrite Maxima from scratch if the time were spent.....
