Compiling from source are usually easy. I see that the official site
propose package for centos (clone of RHLE, based on Fedora). Chances are
that they will work on Fedora (if you have clisp installed). Uninstall
your version of maxima and try these RPM's (that you can always
uninstall in case of problems).
