I am currently trying to get maxima to build on debian alpha using
sbcl; it seems ok on all of the other sbcl architectures.
If you look towards the middle of

you can see the problem is in building slatec, specifically zasyi.lisp
On of the sbcl devs expressed willingness to look at the problem if I
could find a minimal example. Unfortunately I haven't really been able
to get a small example that does not fail for some other reason. I am
not very experienced with this defsystem build system.
If someone could help with a minimal set of files to load including zasyi.lisp,
that would be very helpful.
Or, if you know what the problem is, that would obviously be cool as well :-).
