That makes sense. building tex macros from the index and contents
informaton did work though. but I agree that it is still subject to
breakage, just not as easiy. I put all the links in with one macro, so
that if something breaks badly, all the links can be removed by
defining the macro to do nothing. Another disadvantage is that it
makes the document source more complicated.
