How old a version of CMUCL do we want to keep supporting? I think this
particular issue was fixed in May 2006.
A different workaround would be to set the limit
*intexp-maximum-exponent* to something higher. Doesn't solve all the
possible issues but since we're just doing workarounds, maybe this is
better.
