Xiang-Liu is right. There is a bug in parametric plot2d: it only accepts
parameter names with only one character ($a or $b, but no $ab or $abc).
I also agree fully with Mario's assessment of the bug. Please go ahead
and fix it. It would be nice that 5.18 be released with that bug fixed.
