A comment in share/Makefile.AM claims that:

# The following list is generated by the script make_share_list
# in the admin directory

There is such a scipt in make_share_list, but I don't think the
build process uses this script, does it? The history file for
share/Makefile.AM shows people merrily hacking away at it.
