Because implicit_plot and style specifications for plot2D were developed
simultaneously, in parallel, by two different people. One of those two
fellows realized afterwards that the style options should have been
implemented differently to suit implicit_plot too but he then got so
busy that has not have time to do it yet.

and the explanation right before that example.
