Yup. I've now put the contour*.pdf files on the list of pdf figures in
doc/info/Makefile.am. My advice to you at this point is to create
your own tar.gz by pulling Maxima from CVS and then
sh bootstrap && ./configure && make dist-gzip
cp maxima-5.whatever.tar.gz $myrpmdir/BUILD
rpmbuild -ba mymaxima.spec
We have a list (somewhat out of date) of systems for which
Maxima is known to run. If you are creating rpm's for some
new system, let's put that on the list.

Don't really know. I've been successfully building with tetex 2.0.22
and texinfo 4.7 (really old, I know).
