There is one application of $subsrcmap in the file matfun.mac, it does
not work too. Furthermore, it is not working since Maxima 5.9.
Therefore, I think no one has missed this functionality.
I will cut it out.
Remark: I have observed an interesting effect. The time to run the
testsuite has changed on my computer from about 324 sec with Maxima 5.22
to about 256 sec with Maxima 5.22post. This is a gain in speed of about
20%.
