Ok. This worked for me without sed problems. Configure works, and
build works except I can't make the info files because the version of
perl is too old. There are some strange errors in running the
testsuite, but I'll need to compare against a version running on another
system.
Make install also seems to work, except that the share directory is not
installed. This does not make sense because I can see in share/Makefile
that all of the share files are listed. (Maybe not all, but certainly
more than what was actually installed.) I'm also getting some weird
errors from perl or something when trying to make install in the share
directory.
I must say that if this is the state of msys/mingw, it's pretty sad.
I've never had such problems with cygwin.
