Does Maxima work on Windows??

Yes, Maxima does work under Windows XP and Windows 7, but some users 
do have the 'not connected' problem. Try searching the Maxima mailing 
list for "zone alarm." For example

I don't have any experience with such problems--maybe somebody else on the list
