I can't check this right now, but I suspect this comes from the recent
global change to *print-level* and *print-length*.
Clearly those need to be bound to nil for "save" operations, and
*print-circle* to T. Until this gets fixed in Maxima, try
:lisp (setq *print-level* nil *print-length* nil)
or equivalently
\*print\-level\*: \*print\-length\*: false$
before your 'save'.
