Hi all,
I'm new to using Maxima. I'm an engineering student and up to now I've
been able to get my work done just by using Excel and Mathcad.
However, I've recently discovered Maxima through one of my professors
and I really like what it can do. I'm having a problem at the moment
and I would like to know if anyone can suggest a solution.
I'm writing a simple worksheet that uses the Timoshenko beam theory to
solve the displacements and then internal forces in a (system) of
beams subject to some forces. I've already got a worksheet working for
a specific configuration. Now I'm trying to generalize the worksheet
so I can specify the number of elements, their properties and then
solve the differential equations for the entire system without having
to copy and paste a new line for each. I'm wondering if there is a way
for me to create a matrix of differential equations of the same type
and then integrate the matrix one by one. I've put a copy of my maxima
file (http://www.nayeri.ca/beam.wxmx) and a PDF
(http://www.nayeri.ca/beam.pdf) online so you can see what I'm saying
(I didn't know if attachments were allowed or not).
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Ali
