Calling maxima from outside world

On the documentation page you will find mention of a Perl programme
pMaxima. You can get the source code, which is quite short and
self-contained from here

If memory serves, it works by forking a parent server and child Maxima
process. The parent does the usual Perl-ish stuff, sends Maxima code to
the Maxima child and reads the output.
