If you have a good library available, see if they have a copy of the
book 'Software Manual for the Elementary Functions' by William J. Cody
Jr. and William Waite, 1980, Prentice Hall. The book was for compiler
writers and assembly coder who needed to implement efficient finite word
length floating point.
