question about tensor packages in Maxima



Yes, it is possible to work in dimensions other than four with ctensor. You just need to set the number of dimensions by assigning it to the variable 'dim'.

One demo example (kaluza.dem) actually works out the equations of motion in the Kaluza-Klein metric, using ctensor in five dimensions. Look at how at the very beginning of the code, this demo uses the statement 'dim:5' to set the number of dimensions to five.
