It is possible to make:
groovy: log(-1/((%i*y+x)!-(x-%i*y)!)^2);
plot3d(groovy,[x,-5,15],[y,-5,15],[grid,69,69]);
look more like http://gosper.org/groovy.png
(in terms of shape; any reasonable colours are cool).
(I guessed that mma's ?PlotPoints -> 69? might translate to maxima's
[grid,69,69], but that only barely an hypothesis.)
The mma plot makes some features easier to see.
