It might be good to note that the outer/Kronecker/tensor product is also
known as the "direct" product.  "Elementary Matrix Theory" by H.Eves
mentions that the Kronecker product is also known as the direct product
and the tensor product.  The names Kronecker and tensor seem to be a
little more common in matrix application contexts: "Topics in Matrix
Analysis" by R.Horn and C.Johnson mentions both names,  "Matrices:
Methods and Applications" by S.Barnett uses Kronecker product and
"Mathematics of Multidimensional Fourier Transform Algorithms" by
R.Tolimieri,M.An and C.Lu uses tensor product.
