The standard answer for the last couple of years (and a good one!) is
Practical Common Lisp. Consider buying the book, or read it online at
http://www.gigamonkeys.com/book/
It's excellent: I wish it had been written when I first learnt lisp! If
you want to get started with a perfectly good implementation (of lisp)
and a vaguely sensible packaging system, you could try
http://www.quicklisp.org/beta/
(Again, I wish this had existed five or six years ago)
