If you want to see the interior of a surface, you can play with the
'opacity' option. Also, you can add opacity levels to option 'palette'.
There are two examples in
http://riotorto.users.sourceforge.net/vtk/paramsurf
In particular, take a look at the torus inside the sphere, and the three
wavy surfaces near the end of the page.
Note that there isn't any documentation about the vtk interface, which
is highly experimental.
I have not tested transparencies with the vrml terminal, but at least it
works with other formats.
