I can't confirm this problem. I am working on Ubuntu. make install
succeeds and the installed Maxima finds its documentation index (in
/usr/local/share/info). I can build an rpm package and install it (via
alien) and the index & info files are plopped into /usr/share/info,
although they are all compressed -- I guess that's a Debian thing --
so I uncompressed them. (The rpm spec apparently has a mechanism to
defeat compression of info files, but alien doesn't observe it, I
guess. I don't care about that.)
I guess I'll wait until the info installation problem is resolved before
making a release branch, but I'm guessing it is Windows-specific, and I
can't help with that.
