Yes, it is a bit annoying on slow machines. But maxima.bat opens Maxima in 1 s in
a command window, while xmaxima.bat opens it in 45 s, in a Tcl/Tk window, on one
of my machines. So maybe the problem comes from xmaxima.tcl, not maxima itself
nor gcl ?
After installing on a 0.8 Go partition instead of a 80 Go partition, Maxima is
launched with xmaxima.bat in 1 s instead of 45 seconds on the same machine used
for the preceding tests, so I would suspect a bug (or feature?) in xmaxima.tcl,
such as looking for a non-existent file on the whole disk ?
