Dear Jim,
Next to my above comments, I am very confused to bring to your
and the colleagues' attention that my computer (with no change in
the autoexec.bat file any more, no special maxima.bat file, no new
directory present, no care about MAXIMA-USERDIR any more,
etc., etc.) and with the maxima file present in \maxima\maxima\bin
directory returned again to the quick start/restart of Maxima without
any action by me after my having worked a little with Maxima. This
is extremely strange. I do not know what is happening in this switching
between delays and lack of delays in starting Maxima.
After my having written this paragraph, it returned back to delays.
The computer "plays" in start/restart times between 3 sec, 10 sec
and 20 sec without my control and a possibility for an empirical
explanation by me. (Moreover, without shut down and restart.)
That's my report.
I cannot assume anything reasonable any more and it's too late
in Greece.
Many sincere thanks and best regards,
Nikos
