I think we should try to release Maxima 5.9.1 "soon." My primary
motivations are (1) it has been too long since 5.9.0 was released and
(2) there are incompatibilities with the current versions of clisp and
cmucl.
Obviously, I would like to see as many bugs fixed as possible. However,
some bugs would be better left for later releases. (The outstanding
examples are the case-related bugs. We plan to devote one entire release
to case-changing issues.)
The things I would like to do before 5.9.1 include:
a) Complete the external interface work.
b) Fix the maxima wrapper on Windows.
What else needs to be done before we can release? Keep in mind that we
have planned to devote all changes in 5.9.2 to making Maxima truly
(instead of mostly) case sensitive and downcasing the source.
