I'm not sure if it applies to emaxima, but back in September Jim added some stuff to make it easier for other programs to interface with maxima: doc/implementation/external-interface.txt There has also been some more recent work on better behavior on Windows (hence this thread ;-)
I just thought it might be easier/more robust for the emacs mode to use the Sept hooks in some places rather that what it does now, but maybe not (I'm not that up on the guts of emaxima). Just thought I'd ask.
