Getting documentation access through a proxy with v 5.9.0
Subject: Getting documentation access through a proxy with v 5.9.0

With Redhat 9 & maxima installed from the rpms:
maxima-exec-cmucl-5.9.0-1
maxima-5.9.0-1
maxima-xmaxima-5.9.0-1
I get an error on start-up, namely:
Warning: These variables are undefined:
*SOCKET-CONNECTION* ME
Warning: These functions are undefined:
HOSTENT-NAME RESOLVE-HOST-IPADDR
These don't seem serious, in that maxima still seems to work, but
thought I'd mention them.
Another issue - Clicking on the documentation link hangs xmaxima.
Version 5.6 had a preferences item on the file menu for setting the
proxy server. I finally found this in the new one, in the "fonts"
item on the "options" menu. May I suggest that a) the menu item be
called "preferences" instead of "fonts", and b) getting the proxy from
the http_proxy env variable if it's set & the internal preferences
haven't been set?
Thanks,
