I entirely take your point that experienced users of Maxima don't need
formatted dialogs or input/output - for this reason Kayali just steps out of
the way when the user wants to enter a text expression directly.
The way Kayali works at the moment is that as input and output are generated
they are formatted and added to the bottom of a table. If you wish to modify
a previous input you can either pull it up from a combo-box of double-click
the formatted expression that you wish to edit. Once the edited expression
is resubmitted to Maxima it will be outputted at the bottom of the table,
and does not overwrite any previous output. Why would you want it to
overwrite previous input/output?
