Hi Cliff/Robert.
| I've heard from a few people as well that a portable implimentation of
| Maxima would be very useful to them.
For an old version of Maxima and GCL on Windows CE:
http://www.rainer-keuchel.de/wince/maxima-ce.html
I've never used those tools so can't say how stable they are. For someone
with the CE development tools and hardware it should not be too difficult to
reproduce those builds with the current versions of GCL and Maxima.
| I think the primary issue is
| getting an underlying Lisp running.
...
| This is the only Lisp/Scheme related program I know about for Palm, and
| I have no idea what it would take to get Maxima to work on it:

Lispme is a very small Scheme suited only for the very smallest of
projects - based on my own observations you could not even run JACAL (Aubrey
Jaffer's Scheme CAS) on a typical PalmOS device (say Palm models below at
the very least the Zire 71 and it's ilk). The problems are the OS approach
to memory and I/O. Later versions of PalmOS may lift some of those
constraints, easing a port of GCL or some other Common Lisp implementation.
Cheers
Mike Thomas.
