Heh :-). That's nifty - if I ever get a handheld I'll have to keep
that in mind. It would present a very interesting challenge in GUI
design - powerful CAS + small screen.

Got me. From what little I know PalmOS is kind of its own animal, so I
have no idea if it has any sort of standard development environment
except its own. GCL on it would be very interesting, but I have no
idea if PalmOS is even vaguely posix in nature or has any sort of
serious compilers. At a guess, the best bet might be to not mess with
PalmOS but look at http://uclinux.org/, which apparently runs on
PalmPilots.
