It seems like it should work. Wine runs into problems if a Windows
executable wants to execute some function or load some library
which is not supported. However, I would imagine that the functions
and libraries called from Macsyma are not exotic, if only because
Macsyma has not been developed in several years (if I'm not
mistaken).
As I recall you just type "wine myprogram.exe" to execute a
Windows executable.
If you can buy Macsyma with a money-back guarantee,
it is worth a try to run it with Wine. If you run into problems
probably the Wine mailing list will be useful.
