trouble installing latest maxima

I'm guessing this is a library incompatibility problem --
the libraries on the system on which maxima-exec-gcl are
different from the ones on your system.
RPM tries to detect incompatibilities but there are some
it doesn't see.

It is possible to recompile the Lisp source code of Maxima
into a new maxima-exec package. If there is already some
Common Lisp (GCL, Clisp, CMUCL, and SBCL are known
to be OK) on your system, it is straightforward to compile
Maxima. Let me know if you want to pursue that, and we'll
go from there.

By the way, I doubt if reinstalling maxima-exec-gcl will
change anything.

Thanks for your interest in Maxima -- I hope we can solve this.
