Hello, I'm forwarding a message from a discussion forum at SF,
http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3414546
which reads as follows --
"Hi I'm running suse 10 with clisp-2.33.2-9 and I have
compiled maxima-5.9.2. Try as I may I have not been
able so disable the clisp startup banner which is quite long
and annoying. clisp man page says that a command line
switch -q should work. Does anyone know how to configure
the build (or define a startup script) that will shut off the banner??"
To the original poster -- there is no command line option to
turn off the banner. The easiest thing for you to do is search in
maxima/src/macsys.lisp for a call to meshugena-clisp-banner
and comment it out and recompile.
To everyone else -- I also find the Clisp banner distracting,
and in fact I was quite confused the first time I started Maxima,
which happened to be built with Clisp. Up comes the ascii art
banner for Clisp -- wait a minute, wasn't I trying to run
something called Maxima ?!
I agree entirely with the sentiments expressed by Stavros M in
these messages,
