my recommendation here is to cut the translated lisp files
and arrange for autoloading the corresponding maxima files.
then any bug fixes can be made to the maxima files.
i'm afraid i have little faith in the translation code.
there are a lot of bugs in the translation code, and it
is out of date with respect to the rest of maxima.
i wish it weren't so.
modifying the maxima files and then translating at build time
will tickle bugs in translation sooner or later, probably sooner.
