I was (am) the project lead for Maximabook, but at this point I've more
or less shifted my focus to Axiom so I don't anticipate doing much work
on Maximabook for a while. Fortunately, there is a cvs module
maximabook which has the complete sources and image files (actually a
bit updated from the sept. 2004 version IIRC, but I don't think the
updates were complete.) Anyone who is interested is welcome to carry
on.

This isn't at all difficult - the files present should be a good guide.
Just remember the best results for including png files in pdf seems to
be saving them as noncompressed, which (unfortunately) also makes for
large downloads.

That was the original idea behind maximabook. I would be glad to see
someone pick it up again, since I doubt I'll have the time for quite
some time.
