Subject: proposal to make wxMaxima an installation option

hello,
to follow up on the recent discussion about wxMaxima
(http://wxmaxima.sourceforge.net),
i'd like to propose that wxMaxima be included as a Windows installation option
so that users can choose Xmaxima or wxMaxima or both.
i'd also like to propose that wxMaxima alone be the default option
(i.e. what you get if you just click OK all the way through).
for linux, it is just a matter of putting a wxMaxima rpm in the SF file manager.
i believe it is not necessary to change anything in maxima to
accomodate this. this proposal solely concerns release packaging, i believe.
for reference here are some of the issues which were raised in the
recent discussion.
wxMaxima might be a good idea
* nicer appearance than Xmaxima
* easier to translate (localization files)
* active project
then again, might not
* stability issues on amd64 running gentoo linux
* wxMaxima lacks "notebook" interface implemented by Xmaxima
* "wxMaxima 0.62 does struggle (100% CPU usage) with run_testsuite(true,true)"
* "Expression too long" is less informative
* Automatic parenthesis generation is a little too helpful
* Not so easy to cut/paste output (compared to Xmaxima)
* wxMaxima output not as beautiful as LaTeX output
i look forward to your comments.
