Dear all,
I recently susbcribed to this Maxima mailing list.
Let me first thank you all for making maxima and the frontend I
prefer, wxmaxima, such a great application. This is maybe one of the
most important message I have to say, as it allows me to use an
application for high level math that I can propose and teach to my
students *without* pushing them to spend money on any specifice
proprietary software.
I am a secondary school physics teacher in Belgium. One of the
important points I would like to have in maxima is native language
(aka French).
At least I would like to have the documentation, including the online
documentation accessed through the help system in French, but also if
possible some commands, as this would allow the student to concentrate
on the application instead of strugling with the language (aka English
that they do not master at all).
I ahve seen that maxima now comes in Spanish and Portuguese but I
don't know what has been translated.
I would therefore appreciate to know what would be needed as work to
be done to achieve what I would like: is this "only" (I know it could
mean a lot of work) .po translation ? If yes, this would be great and
I would suggest to do it through the help of the Rosetta system in
http://launchpad.net and I could also participate, and have some
students help too.
I am looking forward to hearing from you,
Best regards,
Nicolas
