Assistance with url parsing bug in xmaxima

Greeting all.
As some who have been following the thread '.mac ? why'
will be aware, I'm trying to get acquainted with using xmaxima as a
possible (eventual) alternative to Mathematica, for use as a presentation
tool in my studies.

In this persuit, I have been given much valuable assistance
by Jaime Villate <villate at gnu.org>. He has compiled some
material for use in a fashion -quite similar to what I need.
He recommended that I look at the URL

http://fisica.fe.up.pt/pub/maxima/doc/lecture15.html

So I went to the email, (KMail), and copied and pasted it.

It bugged out.
I sent a reply to Jamie saying this.
Jamie, I checked. I'm sorry. I DID NOT miss a slash in the URL.
The fact that the error has one slash in it is a mystery to me as much as
anyone. Too strange huh?

So I went and did it again. Using a different method, and typing it out.
And checking that I had 'http://'. I even thought it was chopping one off by
mistake so I tried 'http:///'. The following error report appeared in both
cases.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
couldn't
open "/usr/share/maxima/5.9.3/xmaxima/ ?http:/fisica.fe.up.pt/pub/maxima/doc/lecture15.html":
no such file or directory
couldn't
open "/usr/share/maxima/5.9.3/xmaxima/ ?http:/fisica.fe.up.pt/pub/maxima/doc/lecture15.html":
no such file or directory
    while executing
"open $name r"
    ("file" arm line 3)
    invoked from within
"switch [assoc type $res] {
	http {
#mike FIXME: replace with http get
	    # puts $res
	    # puts "socket [assoc server $res] [assoc port $res 8..."
    (procedure "getURL" line 14)
    invoked from within
"getURL $new contentType mimeheader $post"
    (procedure "OpenMathOpenUrl" line 62)
    invoked from within
"OpenMathOpenUrl [.browser.textcommands.location
get] -commandpanel .browser.textcommands"
    (command bound to event)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can see it has only one slash in the error.
Will someone please verify that this is a bug and not something my distro
alone is doing?

Jamie, I'm sorry for moving this to another thread.
I just thought this would make it easier to trace later.
And again, yes, I see the FIXME. Sorry

Sorry to be a trouble.
I think all file:/// URL's work ok, so it's not a biggy ATM.
But still, just though this should be verified.

Will
