Greetings, and thanks!
I'm pushing through new packages for Debian Etch as we speak. I'm
wondering if you might retry with gcl_2.6.7-25 and maxima_5.10.0-4?
Especially if you have a ppc box to check that that issue is gone.
This was due to a bug in the binutils strip utility -- the built image
was fine, but broke when being stripped for installation.
