Hallo Uwe,
there are some circumstances where Win 2000, XP SP1 and XP SP2 behave different,
especially concerning paths. I hope, we don't have this problem here. I hope, that on your
XP machine the different result is simply due to a different sequence of installation.
First, I am happy, that finally you are successful. Secondly, I would like to know, what
precisely you did to get it work. Then we should be able to give a clear description for
Windows 2000 and XP users how to combine Maxima and TeXmacs.
You write that you did not execute the recommended steps. What did you do? Just installing
Maxima 5.10.0 and WinTeXmacs 1.0.5? I can't believe that.
Please describe in detail what you did concerning the 4 recommended steps:
1. \plugins\maxima\bin\tm_maxima
Do you use the original file (dated 27.4.05) or the file from CVS (dated 27.9.06) ?
2. \plugins\maxima\lisp\texmacs-maxima-5.10.0.lisp
Did you copy this file (dated 27.9.06) from CVS into that directory? It is not included in
WinTeXmacs 1.0.5.
3. \plugins\maxima\progs\init-maxima.scm
Did you do any changes in that file? The original file mentions texmacs-maxima-5.9.2.lisp,
not 5.10.0.
4. \plugins\pluginpaths.txt
This file is created when WinTeXmacs is starting for the first time after installing.
Which Maxima paths are recorded here? Which Maxima versions are installed on your
operating system?
In addition it could be interesting to know, in what sequence you have installed the
programs. Take your win 2000 and XP both into account.
I hope we can clear this point.
