I agree with you. XHTML+XSLT is a much better way to go than the current
SSI. You have all my support for that change. Some years ago (~2000) I
spent a lot of time building sites with that approach and I created some
simple tools to obtain Tex and PDF versions of the sites built that way
(see: http://www.nongnu.org/xhtmltools/)
