I guess I would be inclined to just put a sentence or two into each item.
If there were more to say, it might make more sense to separate the
explanation from everything else and throw in pointers to that.
For the purpose of maintaining the text, maybe there is a way to
get Texinfo to interpolate a text blob via a macro or something.
