If you want to do it yourself, there are instructions at
http://wxmaxima.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/MacOSX
Otherwise, Macports ( http://www.macports.org/ ) and Fink (
http://www.finkproject.org ) provide tools to install and update the
relevant packages mostly automatically. They _don't_ provide binaries,
however. (I'm the maintainer for the Fink maxima stuff, and there
_are_ binaries that are built via Fink but distributed at sites not
under the project's aegis, but that's beyond the scope of this discussion).
