Hi Leo,
I'm not the author of any of those, but I've created similar screenshots
for my talks using Gimp.
In the "File" menu I select Create -> Screenshot
(in older versions it was Acquire -> Screenshot).
I then select the options "Take a screenshot of a single Window",
"Include window decoration" and Delay: 0 seconds.
When one clicks on "Snap", the screenshot dialog disappears and clicking
on the window we want, a graphic is created in Gimp that can then be
saved in PNG format (avoid JPEG for screenshots).
Sometimes I use "Filters" -> "Enhance" -> "Sharpen" to make the image
sharper.
